Mary Somerville

Mary Somerville was one of the most amazing women of all time. Born in Scotland at a time when girls received minimal schooling, her curiosity led her to educate herself using her family library. She grew up to become a world-renowned science writer and polymath and she published several books. She was also an early advocate for women’s right to vote. Mary demonstrated the power of perseverance and is a brilliant role for girls interested in science and showed that no one needs to limit their talents to one area.
